BLOG 6 - Alternative Ways To Make Money Even While In Lockdown

As we have seen, lockdowns have really put a spanner in the works when it comes to earning money the traditional way. Working in a job. On a personal note, in March 2020, I was offered a fantastic new job for a massive global company but couldn’t commence this role as this was when the first lockdown had started in Melbourne in Australia. During that same period, thousands and thousands of people had lost their jobs and businesses in the hundreds were forced to close. I felt loyal to this new company so I didn’t search for any other jobs within Melbourne as it felt wrong and I knew that the vast number of people searching for jobs had increased on a massive scale which would slow down my chances of being offered anything.

I then made the decision to relocate to Sydney for some time as I had been offered a new role there. After working in Sydney for a couple of months, the city was forced into a lockdown and I was told by my new employer not to come in for the first week and possibly for the second week of lockdown as well. I knew intuitively that this lockdown would be a long one as I had already experienced in Melbourne so I resigned from my job with two weeks’ notice and quickly packed up, handed the keys in to my apartment and drove back to Melbourne. Lucky I came back when I did.

This blog is all about thinking outside of the box. Helping you to understand and realise there is so much more out there than just working in a normal job. As an example, there are 20 something year old’s who are making a fortune just from posting videos on YouTube, not necessarily gaming videos either and building an enormous following. Or Instagram Influencers who earn substantial amount of money just by having a large presence. I have recently made the decision during the new and sixth lockdown in Melbourne to, not only write my new book which will be all about the importance of solitude and work on my business but to also start building a proper legacy for myself and for my family. In addition to my studies, I have decided to become an online Research Assistant, Proof-reader and Article Writer which will provide me with an income which is equivalent to the income I derive from working in office administration jobs which I have been doing for the past 15 years. All three of these things will allow me to work from home on a continuous basis as does my business and books.

The point of me telling you this is in the hope it will expand your mind and consciousness. To see things in a new light and to have hope and understand, it is not the end of the world simply if you are unable to work in a traditional job.

Do what resonates with you. Either do a Google internet search for side hustle ideas or you can download specific apps onto your mobile which have these ideas listed as well. These apps are fantastic. As you work through the lists of ideas, think about what would really resonate with you. What would you actually be interested in doing? What would you love to do? Ask yourself these questions as well as others and then look into the possible options you end up selecting to see if they are worth pursuing.
